Hiring an n8n developer in Egypt: your options and what to check

Searching for an n8n developer usually means one urgent workflow and nobody to own it. Before you hire anyone, decide who will still be responsible for that workflow six months from now.

Three ways to get n8n work done

n8n is a source-available (fair-code) workflow automation platform built by n8n GmbH. Anyone can learn it, which is why the market in Egypt ranges from students who built two demo flows to engineers who run n8n in production. Most businesses end up choosing between three models.

A freelance n8n developer

A freelancer is usually the fastest way to get a single, well-defined workflow built: a form that writes into a sheet, a webhook that posts to a team channel, or a scheduled report. The risk is continuity. If the freelancer moves on, the workflow, its credentials, and the knowledge of why it was built that way often leave too.

An in-house hire

Hiring an employee makes sense when automation is a permanent, growing part of operations and there is enough work to keep one person busy. You get context and availability. You also take on recruitment, management, and the gap when that person is on leave or resigns.

A managed automation practice

A managed practice sets up, deploys, and maintains the workflows under an engagement, and the business approves requirements. This fits operators who need production workflows but do not want to manage a technical role. Veyrox works this way: Veyrox handles the setup, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of your n8n workflows. It is not a staffing marketplace and does not place a developer on your payroll. The service is described on our managed n8n automation page.

What a production n8n workflow actually needs

A workflow that runs once in a demo is not the same as one that runs every day with real customer data. Whoever you hire should be comfortable with the following, and should be able to explain each in plain language:

  • Error handling: an error workflow or alert so failures reach a person instead of disappearing
  • Retries and duplicates: what happens if the same webhook arrives twice, or an API times out halfway
  • Credentials: stored in n8n’s credential system, not pasted into nodes or shared in chat
  • Hosting: where n8n runs, who updates it, and how the database is backed up
  • Documentation: a short note per workflow explaining the trigger, the steps, and who to call
  • Exports: workflows exported and kept somewhere you control, so they can be restored or handed over

Questions to ask before you hire

  • Can you show a workflow you built that has been running for months, and explain how failures are handled?
  • Where will our n8n instance run, and who has admin access?
  • What happens to the workflows and credentials if we stop working together?
  • How do you test changes before they touch live customer data?
  • Who is on call when a connected service changes its API?

If the answers are vague, the workflow will probably work until the first unexpected input, and then nobody will know why it stopped.

Red flags

  • The developer wants to host the instance on a personal account you cannot access
  • No mention of error alerts, backups, or updates
  • Promises of fixed savings or guaranteed uptime before anyone has looked at your process
  • Claims of being an official n8n partner or representative without anything you can verify

Deciding between DIY and managed

If someone on your team can own hosting, credentials, and errors, a freelancer for the first build plus internal ownership afterwards can work well. If nobody can, a managed engagement is usually safer. The trade-offs are laid out in our checklist for running n8n in production, and the responsibility split is summarised in the DIY n8n vs managed comparison. Where n8n runs matters too: see self-hosted n8n vs n8n Cloud.
